Pleurisy?&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lately I&#8217;ve been watching <em>The Sopranos<\/em> again, occasionally interrupting the DVD to do screen captures of scenes that made me laugh. Here&#8217;s one from the first season. A gangster&#8217;s wife is complaining that a stolen kitchen appliance isn&#8217;t quite up to her standards:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/prettygoodbritain.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/braoon.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7920\" src=\"http:\/\/prettygoodbritain.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/braoon.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"474\" srcset=\"https:\/\/prettygoodbritain.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/braoon.jpg 650w, https:\/\/prettygoodbritain.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/braoon-300x219.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t so much the <a class=\"bbc_link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.notanothercyclingforum.net\/acf\/pics\/braoon2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mispronunciation<\/a> that prompted my snort-n-save reflex &#8211; I mispronounce things plenty &#8211; as it was the consumer aspiration, even for consumers of things which fall off trucks.<\/p>\n<p>In between all the <a class=\"bbc_link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.notanothercyclingforum.net\/acf\/index.php?topic=50744.0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fucking<\/a>, the show&#8217;s writers often had fun with words, particularly malapropisms. The title of this post, for example, is how Junior Soprano referred to more than one suit.<\/p>\n<p>The series was full of memorable scenes, <a class=\"bbc_link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.notanothercyclingforum.net\/acf\/pics\/goaheadlaugh.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">funny<\/a> and otherwise.
