Hard to believe it’s been 18 years since I published this. Or once lived in Jersey City. The change of scenery couldn’t be more profound.
Being a former typesetter, I’m appalled at the kerning in the masthead, and am not sure how I let that happen; but in a way, it fit.
PS. Here’s a ladder to go with that.
Some people re-read Sense and Sensibility every couple of years. I re-watch The Sopranos. As a former resident of the bury ’em in the Garden State, it’s the least I can do.
Don’t taste caster sugar off the stove as it’s bubbling into caramel for crème caramel. Fortunately I got the memos about not looking directly at the sun, and not sticking a fork into the toaster to check if it’s on.
