Superconductors

‘Tis the season for leaves on the line; I think we should be exploring any option which helps the nation overcome the vicissitudes of autumn.

Maglev isn’t new, but are our conductors up to scratch? In my experience they’re prone to logorrhea (I have access to a public address system syndrome) and  suspect tattoos.

Food of the Gods

There are meat and potatoes men. I’m a milk and cookies man. You are what you eat, so, literally. Some fruit and vegetables have been thrown into the hopper over the years as a sop to my vegetarianism (almost not quite veganism), but my heart is pure cookie dough and my blood more white than red. I had a brief flirtation with soy milk after giving up what an acquaintance was so kind as to call ‘cow mucous’ back when I still drank it. Finally settled on rice milk. Thankfully there’s enough of a market for it that it’s not hard to find.

Warren G., we hardly knew ye

Spotted in a book review from earlier this year:

I love your back, I love your breasts,
Darling to feel, where my face rests,
I love your skin, so soft and white,
So dear to feel and sweet to bite,
I love your knees, their dimples kiss
I love your ways of giving bliss,
I love your poise of perfect thighs,
When they hold me in paradise…
–Warren G. Harding, 29th president of the United States.

All we learned about him in high school was the Teapot Dome scandal.
